During Radial Angioplasty, a health care provider makes a small puncture in the radial artery as a radial artery runs from the elbow to the wrist. It supplies the hand with oxygen-rich blood. After making a small puncture in the artery, a doctor inserts a wire called a catheter and make its way it into a blocked or narrowed artery in the heart. Once the catheter reaches a place, a balloon gets expanded which is placed at its tip, pressing a wire-mesh stent into the artery wall. This widens the artery and keeps it open.
